Morando Is Skilled With Numerous Instruments
“I’m Maxx Morando,” a then-18-year-old Maxx stated for Modern Drummer back in 2016. The musician added that he’d been “playing drums since I was eight and joined the School of Rock in Hollywood. There, I encountered some of my bandmates, three of whom are Sage, Genessa, and Lydia of the Regrettes. My principal influences include Phil Collins, Keith Moon, and Jack Bevan.”
Despite being primarily recognized for playing the drums, he’s also capable with a guitar, as shown in a 2020 Instagram Live session.

Maxx Morando Was a Member of The Regrettes
Prior to becoming a member of the four-piece Los Angeles rock group Liily, Maxx played drums for the punk rock ensemble The Regrettes between 2015 and 2018. Maxx encountered his fellow band members Lydia Night, Sage Chavis, and Genessa Gariano during his time at a music academy. The collective unveiled their initial EP, Hey!, in 2015, followed by their initial album, Feel Your Feelings Fool!, in 2017.
“We’re delighted that the amazing Mike Elizondo produced our record,” he revealed to Modern Drummer at that moment. “The recording phase was incredibly enjoyable and provided me with extensive learning. We made recordings live, directly onto tape, all within the same space and concurrently. I was highly focused on achieving the optimal take each instance, as I couldn’t revisit and refine small elements. Nevertheless, because of this, I would overthink it and commence to tense up, hindering my ability to perform as desired. Following a few songs, I started to relax and merely played as I would during a live performance. It instructed me to simply perform drums naturally, with ease. It resulted in some truly exceptional takes.”
Maxx departed from the group in 2018, subsequent to the debut of their Attention Seeker EP. Subsequently, Maxx collaborated with vocalist Dylan Nash, guitarist Sam De La Torre, and bassist Charlie Anastasis to establish Liily. “We all were familiar with each other and existed within the same social sphere,” he shared with Soundazed. “Certain members among us attended school together, while others had known each other since approximately the age of seven.” The group launched their first single, “Toro,” near the close of 2018.
Described as a “riff-heavy, fierce alt-rock blend originating from Los Angeles,” Liily sustained momentum in subsequent years. They introduced their first album, TV or Not TV, in 2021.
Maxx Morando Is Also an Artist and a Designer
In a talk with Vogue in September, Cyrus revealed that Maxx aided in the creation of one of her festival ensembles alongside designer Shane Kastl.
“This ensemble represents an exclusive partnership between two of my favored up-and-coming artists, Maxx Morando and Shane Kastl,” she expressed to the publication regarding one of her outfits. “Their partnership exemplifies how sustainability is becoming the next stage in fashion, emphasizing the potential for reimagining anything, a notion that profoundly resonates with me.”
During September of 2021, Maxx shared Miley’s post on his Instagram Story, writing, “Collaborated with @shane_kastl to create this look!” The look itself involved a vivid mix. Miley donned white short-shorts along with a jacket featuring sleeves of varying colors. Both components of her attire showcased dynamic painted designs.
Maxx Morando & Cyrus’ Acquaintance Began Through a Set-Up
During an interview for a cover story with British Vogue, the singer of “Adore You” talked about how she first met Maxx.
“We were set up on a blind date,” Cyrus revealed. “Well, it was blind for me but not exactly for him,” she then detailed. “I figured, ‘What’s the worst outcome? I just leave.’”
Maxx Morando and Miley Cyrus Share a Home
In February of 2024, a source confided in People that Cyrus and Maxx were cohabitating.
“She experiences immense happiness with him,” the informant communicated. “Everyone has high regard for Maxx. He is a fantastic person. He treasures his privacy and avoids being under media focus. It has proven beneficial for her.”
