Joseph Duggar, best known from the TLC show 19 Kids and Counting, has been with his spouse, Kendra Caldwell, since 2017, and their union has proven strong. However, the announcement of Joseph’s detention in March of 2026 placed their relationship and family in the spotlight. Shortly after he was taken into custody, Kendra was also arrested.
Joseph and Kendra are parents to multiple children. Reports indicate they have four children together, though the pair has not officially verified the existence of a fourth. They are the parents of a son named Garrett David and daughters named Addison Renee and Brooklyn Praise.
According to a formal declaration from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph was apprehended on March 18, 2026, and was charged with immoral and indecent conduct, related to unlawful sexual activity with a minor while on a family trip to Panama City back in 2020. At that point, the victim was 9 years of age. The now-14-year-old minor participated in a formal interview and gave investigators accounts of multiple instances allegedly involving Joseph.
“The victim conveyed that Duggar repeatedly requested her to be seated on his lap,” the sheriff’s department’s declaration explained. “As the vacation continued, he also asked her to sit beside him on a sofa and wrapped them in a blanket. During that time, Duggar touched the victim’s undergarments and brushed her private parts. Duggar would also continually rub his hands on her legs.”
The accuser asserted that Joseph “eventually expressed regret for his actions, and the instances ceased after the apology.” Investigators affirmed that the victim’s father confronted Joseph about the supposed incidents on March 17, 2026, and the former TV personality admitted to the behavior.
Two days later, Kendra was arrested and accused of four counts of putting a minor at risk in the second degree and four counts of unlawful imprisonment in the second degree.
