Robert Redford’s Lineage: Getting to Know the Celebrated Actor’s Seven Grandchildren

Robert Redford passed away in September 2025 at the age of 89, but his heritage will persist through his kin. The renowned star of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is survived by his grown progeny and grandchildren — several of whom openly honored their departed grandfather.

Hollywood Life has assembled details concerning each of Robert’s grandchildren below.

How Many Kids Does Robert Redford Have?

Robert had a total of four offspring with his initial spouse, Lola Van Wagenen: Scott, David James, Shauna and Amy Redford. Their initial child, Scott, succumbed at only 2 1/2 months old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS): a scenario where an infant, typically within their first year, unexpectedly dies.

David James, also known as James Redford, died in 2020 due to bile duct cancer. He was 58. At the end of his life, Robert’s daughters, Shauna and Amy, were his sole living children.

How Many Grandchildren Does Robert Redford Have?

Robert had a sum of seven grandchildren.

Mica Schlosser

Robert’s daughter Shauna and her partner, Eric Schlosser, greeted their firstborn, daughter Anna Michaela “Mica” Redford Schlosser, in January 1991. Mica later engaged in considerable academic pursuits, studying history at Vermont’s Middlebury College. She then obtained a master’s qualification in history from the University of Oxford and a master’s qualification in design from Central St. Martins.

Conor is Shauna and Eric’s son, and he was born in July 1992, according to The New York Times. He subsequently graduated in 2015 from Colby College in Maine, where Robert delivered the graduation speech, as reported by the Sun Journal. From 2021 until now, Conor has been employed as a New York City producer for the RadicalMedia studio, and he previously worked at the Sundance Institute, based on his LinkedIn profile.

Dylan Redford

Dylan is James and Kyle Redford’s firstborn. He came into the world in October 1991, and was diagnosed with dyslexia during his third-grade year, according to the Marin Independent Journal. In 2012, his late father, James, directed The Big Picture, a documentary highlighting Dylan’s experience with college applications.

In 2015, Dylan completed his studies at Middlebury College with a degree in studio art. Following Robert’s example, Dylan pursued a career as a filmmaker and currently resides in California.

Dylan convinced his late grandfather to participate in the cast of Omniboat: A Fast Boat Fantasia, which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. In a 2020 interview with the Associated Press, Robert stated that his grandson “presented the concept to me in California.”

“When they offered the idea, I responded, ‘That seems like a genuinely fascinating concept. Go ahead and do it, and I’ll take on any role you desire me to,’” Robert mentioned, further stating, And they replied, ‘Alright, you’ll be the voice of the dolphin.’ At least I’m not a whale.”

Lena Hart Redford

Lena is James and Kyle’s youngest child. Born in November 1995, she attended Vassar College in New York, where she studied media and graduated in 2018. According to her Instagram account, Lena is an artist and filmmaker, similar to her late grandfather. Lena’s short film Dear Maria premiered at the Borscht Film Festival in Miami.

Eden August

Eden is the oldest daughter of Amy Redford and her former spouse, Matt August. Eden was born in 2008, and the majority of her life has been shielded from the public spotlight.

Amy Redford’s Other Two Kids

Amy welcomed her other two daughters, twins, with her ex, Matt, in 2010. During a 2016 interview with Her magazine, Amy beamed about her three daughters.

“I have three girls, and my husband and I are experiencing the world through their vision,” Amy mentioned at that time. “It has also acted as my beacon. I was saddened by a project recently, and I was explaining it to my 7-year-old [Eden], and she held my face and declared, ‘Mom! Never surrender!’ I am indebted to her for that, and to my other two.”
