Access Hollywood is the latest NBCUniversal show to get canceled. The organization revealed the celebrity news outlet’s termination alongside a handful of others, namely Access Live, Karamo, and The Steve Wilkos Show, and viewers are both shocked and perplexed. Why would the seemingly thriving program be discontinued after nearly three decades on the air?
The announcement occurred soon after Kelly Clarkson stated she would be resigning from hosting her NBC daytime talk program, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

When Was Access Hollywood Canceled?
NBCUniversal shared that Access Hollywood, with other first-run syndication branch programs, was discontinued on March 13, 2026. Nevertheless, the show will proceed with production through the summer of 2026.
Access Hollywood formally debuted in September of 1996.
Why Was Access Hollywood Canceled?
Per a declaration released by NBCUniversal, the organization “is implementing revisions to our first-run syndication division to better match the programming inclinations of local stations,” Frances Berwick, Chairman of Bravo & Peacock unscripted for NBCUniversal, clarified in a statement.
“The company will stay engaged in the distribution of our existing program archive and other off-network properties, while concluding production of our first-run shows,” Berwick included. “These shows have supplied audiences with fantastic talk and entertainment content for a number of years and we’re exceedingly proud of the teams behind them.”
The elimination of Access Hollywood comes during continued instability for television. Numerous daytime talk shows have been cut from their networks, and even late-night comedy personalities are uneasy after CBS gutted Stephen Colbert, whose last episode is planned to air this May.
What Will Happen to the Hosts of Access Hollywood?
The present hosts of the program, Mario Lopez, Kit Hoover, Scott Evans and Zuri Hall, have not publicly commented on the show’s termination as of the time of publication. It remains unclear what their subsequent actions will be, but they are anticipated to continue production on Access Hollywood through the summer of 2026.
