The NFL’s 2026 free agency period is in full swing, giving clubs throughout the league an opportunity to reconstruct their lineups prior to the approaching gridiron season. Each offseason, athletes whose contracts have concluded are able to negotiate fresh deals with any franchise, causing a flurry of acquisitions, swaps, and franchise tag choices. This year’s collection showcases several prominent veterans and up-and-coming stars, with a number already inking new agreements while others are still up for grabs on the open market.
One of the most talked-about individuals in the midst of free agency is Tua Tagovailoa, who was let go by the Miami Dolphins. Reports indicate he is signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Simultaneously, Travis Kelce, a very recognizable name in the league, is slated to compete for another year with the Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce’s decision to stay with the team materialized months after rumors circulated regarding his potential retirement.
During a March 2026 edition of his and his sibling Jason Kelce‘s “New Heights” podcast, Travis chatted about what he would miss most when he eventually decides to retire.
“I guess it’s just the experiences in the significant matchups, really,” the tight end expressed. “That sensation of needing to step up, be present for, you know, 70,000, that are all relying on you on the field, apart from just your teammates that you go to war with, that you go to battle alongside. Those moments when you have to deliver in the intensity of a heated contest, specifically during the playoffs and all the important clashes, that’s a feeling that I’m certain I’ll never recapture. And those are the aspects you cherish the most.”
