March will be interesting for bright film premieres: from the film “Couture” with Angelina Jolie, which was filmed in the Chanel workshops, to “The Testament of Anne Lee” with a brilliant performance by Amanda Seyfried.

“Father, mother, sister, brother”

Advertising.

New York, Paris, Dublin – three cities, three stories. Jim Jarmusch's calm and measured, almost sketchy film tells the story of a father, mother, and brother and sister in different corners of the planet. The title, which sounds like the beginning of a nursery rhyme, directly indicates the director's study of family ties, sometimes exaggerated to the point of absurdity. The three parts of the film are built as prolonged dialogues between family members in different circumstances – in its structure, the film resembles Jarmusch's iconic works, such as “Night on Earth” (1991) and “Coffee and Cigarettes” (2003).

Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Adam Driver, Tom Waits, and Charlotte Rampling — the cast in the film is star-studded and multifaceted.

“Couture”

“Couture” is Angelina Jolie's new work. She plays Maxine, an American director who comes to Paris for Fashion Week and finds herself facing a personal challenge that changes her perspective on life and creativity. Jolie specifically studied French for the role and dubbed her lines for the first time. “Couture” has already made history as the first feature film to be allowed to shoot inside the Chanel atelier. The camera worked in real haute couture salons and on the legendary stairs on Rue Cambon – the heart of the house.

“Bride”

In the 1930s, a lonely Frankenstein arrives in Chicago to ask a brilliant scientist, Dr. Euphronius, to create a companion for him. Together, they revive a murdered young woman – and the Bride is born. But events quickly spiral out of control: a scientific experiment turns into an explosive mix of outcast love, cultural revolution, obsession and crime that challenges the very idea of life and death.

“The Bride” is an original project by actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, who served as director, screenwriter, and producer. The main roles are played by Christian Bale (Frankenstein) and Jessica Buckley (The Bride).

The film “Hamnet” is based on the novel by Irish author Maggie O'Farrell, which tells the story of William Shakespeare's relationship with his future wife Agnes, the birth of their son Hamnet in 1585, as well as the child's illness and sudden death at the age of 11. The film adaptation of the novel was directed by Chloe Zhao, an Oscar winner for the film “Land of the Nomads”. Paul Mescal played the young Shakespeare, and Irish actress Jessica Buckley played his wife Agnes. The film was nominated for eight Oscars.

“Secret Agent”

The plot of “The Secret Agent” unfolds in Brazil in the 1970s – a dangerous place where a military dictatorship is raging. Scientist Marcelo involuntarily becomes a fugitive when he learns that a corrupt minister wants to seize his research. Fleeing from hired killers, the man goes to the city of his birth. There, on the ocean coast, he falls into the chaos of carnival, police crackdowns and a mysterious resistance movement. His goal is one – to reunite with his son and leave the country together.

The film is one of the favorites for the Oscars. It already made the top of the best films of last year, won four awards at Cannes and two Golden Globes.

“Anne Lee's Testament”

“The Testament of Anne Lee” is a surreal musical about an 18th-century female religious sect with a brilliant performance by Amanda Seyfried. The narrator in the film is Thomasin MacKenzie (“Leave No Trace,” “Eileen”) – a faded follower of Anne with a patch over one eye. The film premiered at last year's Venice Film Festival.

“Pelion”

The film tells the story of Colin (Harry Melling), a shy “quiet” from the suburbs, whose monotonous life changes dramatically after meeting Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), the charismatic and domineering leader of a gay biker club. Becoming a “pillionaire” (a passenger on the back seat of a motorcycle) and Ray's willing submissive, Colin is immersed in a world of leather, speed and strict rules, where his ideas about love, relationships and his own “self” undergo a radical transformation.
