Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega provided a fresh duo for Scream enthusiasts to admire. Following their portrayals of the Carpenter sisters in Scream and Scream VI, both actresses departed from Scream 7 individually prior to the commencement of filming. The Wednesday lead’s exit sparked interest due to its occurrence soon after Melissa’s dismissal. Hollywood Life delves into the complete narrative surrounding Jenna and Melissa’s exits from Scream 7 in this piece.
In How Many Scream Films Did Jenna Ortega Appear?
Jenna is featured in a pair of movies from the Scream series: the releases of 2022 and 2023.
Why Won’t Jenna Ortega Be in Scream 7?
At first, it was indicated that Jenna’s departure from Scream 7 stemmed from timetable clashes with other productions, such as Wednesday. However, the actress unveiled the reality in an interview with The Cut in April 2025.
“It had no connection to remuneration or timing,” Jenna expressed to the publication. “The Melissa situation was unfolding, and it was all somewhat disintegrating. … “If Scream VII was not going to involve that cadre of filmmakers and those individuals I grew fond of, then it didn’t appear as the appropriate stride for me in my professional journey at that juncture.”
Furthermore, not only did director Christopher Landon relinquish the movie, but directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin also withdrew following Jenna’s departure.
Why Was Melissa Barrera Removed From Scream 7?
Melissa’s termination by Spyglass Media was due to her open declarations on the Israel-Hamas dispute. One of her Instagram Stories in 2023 carried a statement that declared, “Gaza is presently being managed as a concentration camp. Confining everyone collectively, without avenues for escape, devoid of electricity, without hydration … Individuals have gleaned nothing from our histories. And mirroring our past, individuals are observing it all unfold in silence. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.”
Subsequently, Spyglass issued a declaration to Variety after letting Melissa go from Scream 7. It conveyed, “Spyglass’s position is undeniably transparent: We maintain zero forbearance for anti-Semitism or the instigation of animosity in any manifestation, encompassing misleading allusions to genocide, ethnic expulsion, Holocaust misrepresentation, or anything that conspicuously oversteps into virulent rhetoric.”
Who Composes the Scream 7 Ensemble?
Merely two of the “Core Four” from 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream VI are present in Scream 7: Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin.
The balance of the Scream 7 cast boasts the initial final girl, Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, in addition to Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Matthew Lillard as Stu Macher.
