Ralph Lauren presented his new fall-winter collection in New York. The designer called it a story about a modern woman-adventurer who respects the past but reinterprets it for the present. Supermodel Gigi Hadid, who opened the show, appeared as a medieval conqueror and set the mood for the entire show. On social networks, her appearance has already been called – Joan of Arc of Park Avenue.

The main idea of the collection was embodied by Ralph Lauren primarily through a variety of fabrics – on the catwalk, the audience saw taffeta, tweed, dense knitwear and velvet. This mood was supported by the silhouettes – long dresses that are easy to imagine on women both 100 years ago and today, outerwear that emphasizes proportions, leather pants combined with perfectly tailored jackets. The contrast between the past and the present was also evident in the details: hand embroidery, scuffs on the skin, metal decor reminiscent of knightly armor, velvet spraying. A special pleasure in Ralph Lauren's collections is the deep color palette, which this time varied between dark green and brown shades.

In total, we saw about 50 looks in the collection, in which the classics of the Edwardian style were combined with modern precision of cut, naive floral motifs organically complemented soft hand-knit sweaters, and romance and severity were delicately balanced in each look.

The show took place at Jack Shainman Gallery, a space the brand team designed to resemble Ralph Lauren’s estate in Bedford, New York. Painted walls, heavy velvet curtains, vintage rugs, and distressed leather furniture created an atmosphere that felt as if the designer had invited all the guests into his home.
