Savannah Guthrie cherishes her family. The Today show co-host has been wed two times and discovered her soulmate in her current spouse, Michael Feldman. Their romance is quite interesting; she actually ended her relationship with Michael on the very day he asked her to marry him.
“At that point, we had been a couple for five and a half years,” Savannah revealed during a March 2025 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “To reiterate, we weren’t in our twenties when we tied the knot. … My mom [Nancy Guthrie] was saying, ‘You two either need to go through with it, or not. Just make a decision.’”

Is Savannah Guthrie Married? More About Her Current Spouse
Indeed, as previously mentioned, Savannah is married to Michael, a public relations and communications expert and a previous Democratic political advisor. Michael formerly was former Vice President Al Gore’s traveling chief of staff throughout his 2000 presidential campaign.
When Did Savannah Guthrie Tie the Knot With Michael Feldman?
Savannah and Michael initially encountered each other in 2009 and were a couple for more than half a decade prior to him proposing. But that particular day became quite eventful because the NBC personality broke up with her then-boyfriend because he hadn’t proposed yet, Savannah revealed during a 2025 discussion with Kelly Clarkson.
“At that moment, we had been an item for five and a half years. Again, we weren’t 20 when we said ‘I do’,” she commented. “My mother was like, ‘You two have to either take the plunge or don’t. Just figure it out.’ So, this trip was already in the works. I certainly wasn’t anticipating an engagement because when you’ve been together for five and a half years, you no longer assume a vacation to the beach is the day. Like, you’re not getting your nails professionally done.”
Savannah then reminisced on what she conveyed to Michael during their 2013 getaway. “Well, dear, you know, we care for each other, but this has gone on for too long, so I think, let’s just bid ‘farewell,’ let’s part ways.”
She spent the majority of the day “tearful,” but, thankfully, Michael presented the engagement ring later and asked Savannah to marry him. The pair married in March 2014.

Who Is Savannah Guthrie’s Former Husband?
Before falling for Michael, Savannah was wed to her first husband, BBC News figure Mark Orchard. The two were married from 2005 to 2009.
During a January 2026 appearance on Hoda Kotb‘s YouTube series, “Joy Rides,” Savannah expressed that she felt like a “failure” when her marriage with her former partner came to an end.
“I was in my 30s. I felt seasoned, but I now realize I was fairly young, and I was unhappy about it,” she recalled. “Furthermore, I was embarking on a new role at a place known as NBC and trying intensely to carve out a path and make my little ambition a reality, while other aspirations were crumbling. … And it compelled me to really explore my inner strength, and I felt like a failure.”
