Viewers may have thought the initial season’s finale of The Last Thing He Told Me concluded the narrative. However, writer and series creator Laura Dave came back with a subsequent book, designed to mirror the show’s upcoming season. As we get closer to the season 2 launch date of February 20, 2026, audiences will be introduced to some fresh faces, injecting a heightened sense of drama into the storyline.

Audiences should recognize many of the actors joining season 2! Read on to meet the central cast — both familiar and new — featured in season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me.

Jennifer Garner – Hannah

A beloved and established actress in Hollywood, Jennifer Garner is stepping back into the role of Hannah Hall. Hannah develops an unexpected connection with her stepdaughter, Bailey, as they grapple with the fallout from the mysteries surrounding Hannah’s spouse — Bailey’s father — Owen.

Admirers know Jennifer from a wide range of movies and TV programs, such as 13 Going on 30, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Valentine’s Day, Dallas Buyers Club, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Love, Simon, Peppermint and the Elektra films.

Angourie Rice – Bailey

Angourice Rice embodies the character of Bailey, Hannah’s stepdaughter and Owen’s daughter. Throughout season 1, her initially distant connection with Hannah gradually softens, leading to a deeper relationship between the two.

Angourice is known to fans from numerous films and series, including The Nice Guys, the Mean Girls movie musical, the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man movies and Mare of Easttown.

In an exclusive conversation with Hollywood Life leading up to the show’s season 2 debut, Angourie shared how viewers will see her character, Bailey, begin to question those closest to her who have “compromised her trust,” particularly her father, Owen.

“Bailey is grappling with the question, ‘how does one regain her trust once it’s been broken?’” Angourie expressed. “I believe it’s a profound question, especially concerning family. What transpires when the presumed unwavering loyalty is thrown into doubt?”

In the meantime, Bailey’s bond with her stepmother, Hannah (Jennifer), has evolved to be “so robust, deeply connected and built on trust” over the past five years that she is now “justifiably wary of those who have betrayed her trust because Hannah never has,” Angourie concluded.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – Owen/Ethan

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau embodies the complex character Owen, who is later revealed to actually be named Ethan. His disappearance in season 1 laid the foundation for season 2’s dramatic unfolding.

Audiences recognize Nikolaj from The Other Woman, Gods of Egypt, Against the Ice and Black Hawk Down.

Augusto Aguilera – Grady

Augusto Aguilera takes on the role of Grady, the enigmatic and mysterious U.S. Marshal investigating Owen’s vanishing act.

People recognize Augusto from Chasing Life, Too Old To Die Young and, more recently, I Love LA.

Judy Greer

Judy Greer is a newcomer this season, with details about her character largely kept secret in the months prior to the premiere of the second season. She’s appeared in a multitude of movies, including The Descendants, Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In television, Judy has featured in The Big Bang Theory, Arrested Development, Two and a Half Men, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Kidding.

In a special discussion with Hollywood Life before season 2, Judy reminisced about her experience joining a show in its second year.

“Stepping into a project that was already efficiently running, it felt akin to joining an amazing family and wanting to avoid disrupting things or being excluded from the family,” Judy mentioned with a smile.

As she previously worked with Jennifer on 13 Going on 30, Judy also reflected on reuniting with her friend in this new on-screen collaboration.

“Working alongside Jen is wonderful because I admire her as an actress. We’re clearly good friends; it’s really enjoyable to get paid to spend time with people you care about,” Judy joked.

Rita Wilson

Information about Rita Wilson‘s character has also been largely under wraps in the buildup to the season 2 premiere. She is famous for a variety of acting roles, including in Sleepless in Seattle, Jingle All the Way, The Story of Us, Runaway Bride, The Good Wife, Girls and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
