Brocard Niche Bar in Kiev’s Lavina Mall is worth a visit – even if it seems like the end of geography. When you walk through the bright, spacious rooms towards the intimate and luxurious niche bar, you get a sense of deja vu. It feels like you’re on a journey, and all around you is the terminal of a giant airport, like in Istanbul or Dubai.

It's hard to believe that outside the window is a fierce winter in every sense, blackouts and grayness. There is an alternative reality here, warm, cozy and bright (no magic, only engineering solutions). All this feels like a teleport to carefreeness and happiness.

The sensations intensify as soon as you enter Brocard Niche Bar. The space instantly absorbs all attention. Around you is a priceless collection of niche perfumes.

Name any brand – it's here: Kilian, Penhaligon's, Jo Malone London and, of course, Gritti.

Gritti's first new product, Muskaria, is the creation of the brand's founder, Luca Gritti. He created this fragrance for himself 15 years ago with notes of bergamot and spices, labdanum, rose, benzoin, Italian leather, vanilla, patchouli and ambergris, and only now has he decided to launch it into production. The fragrance is full-bodied, grounded, carnal and sensual. If it were a voice, it would definitely be a velvety baritone.

The second, Vanilla Tana, is a tribute to Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. Tana is the abbreviation of this name used by the locals.

This fragrance uses vanilla maceration, which occurs when vanilla pods are placed in the cavities of a baobab tree. In total, the composition uses three vanilla-derived aromatics (including absolute and “vanilla caviar”) to create a three-dimensional scent that shimmers with gold.

Both fragrances, they say at Brocard Niche Bar, embody the duality of human nature: a warm, light side and a dark, powerful, and passionate one.

Both perfumes contain the highest concentration of perfume substances – 30%. This provides them with extremely high durability and dramatic opening. If applied to clothing, it is better to apply them on the inside (and never on silk or other thin delicate fabrics, so as not to leave traces).
Luca Gritti's new creations remind us of the classic canons of perfumery and how beautiful this high art can be. Both new releases sound especially convincing in the cold season: they seem to be created for sharp air, scarves and coats. Muskaria stays closer to the skin, revealing the warmth of resins and spices, while Vanilla Tanà leaves a more tangible, light and sunny trail. Both are genderless: they are perfumes of mood and inner state. It is worth knowing that even in the peak of heat they will have a very beautiful sound: vanilla with its oriental temperament plays best in extreme temperatures.
