What Will The Devil Wears Prada 2 Be About?

The focus of The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be on Miranda struggling with the progressive demise of printed media publishing. With Runway facing a decline, Miranda is pitted against her former assistant Emily for ad revenue, with Emily now holding an executive position at an opulent brand.

As displayed in the initial trailer, which was unveiled in November 2025, Andy is spotted linking up with Miranda at the Runway headquarters. As Miranda confidently heads towards an elevator in her red stiletto Prada shoes, Andy is seen holding the lift open, as her former supervisor remarks, “Took you long enough.”

The complete trailer was finally made public in January 2026 — and it’s far more gratifying than a cerulean belt.

Is The Devil Wears Prada About Anna Wintour?

The masterminds behind the movie — which stems from the 2003 book of the same name authored by Lauren Weisberger — have been upfront about sharing their influences for the film’s detached fashion scene. Although not totally based on Vogue’s head honcho Anna Wintour, fashion designers were too nervous to loan costume pieces to the movie because of possible backlash from Anna, writer Aline Brosh McKenna revealed to Entertainment Weekly in 2021.

“I encountered significant difficulty finding anyone in the fashion industry willing to speak with me, since people were fearful of Anna and Vogue and being blacklisted,” Aline stated. “There was an individual who did talk to me, whose name I will protect forever, who reviewed it and said, ‘The individuals in this film are overly kind. No one in that realm is that nice. They don’t need to be, and they don’t have the time to be.’ Following that, I did a rewrite to make everyone a bit more occupied and unpleasant.”

Regardless, Anna has possessed a sense of humor regarding the motion picture. In January 2024, the fashion icon and Anne made special appearances in Broadway’s Gutenberg as producers, who offer the stars of the show a Broadway deal at the close.

Anna revealed her decision to relinquish her role as EIC of Vogue in June 2025.
