In recent times, Ted Lasso turned into one of the most popular TV programs, with its third installment originally deemed to be the last. The Emmy-winning comedic show, featuring Jason Sudeikis, brought its third season to a close in 2023. The next year, the program received the go-ahead for a fourth season – and a potential debut date has been determined!
As fans prepare to witness their beloved coach and AFC Richmond associates come back – this time in Kansas City – Hollywood Life provides the newest details regarding Ted Lasso‘s fourth season down below.
‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4: Is It Confirmed?
Indeed, Apple TV+ verified that season 4 was approved and production began in July of 2025. This season will focus on Ted returning to Richmond where he coaches a second division women’s team.

Jason, a co-creator alongside Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly and Bill Lawrence, will play Ted Lasso once more, while acting as an executive producer, too.
“We all keep living in a space where a plethora of factors have trained us to ‘look before we leap,” Sudeikis expressed in a statement. “In season 4, the people affiliated with AFC Richmond discover how to leap prior to looking, and they find that they’re exactly where they’re meant to be, regardless of where they end up.”
Earlier, in August of 2023, Declan Lowney, who was the director for multiple episodes, told The Hollywood Reporter that the show had ended – “at the present moment.”
“Everyone knew that it was the conclusion, while also being a conclusion for the time being,” he stated regarding the season 3 finale. “It’ll take a couple or three years for something to take place – if anything does take place – so let’s attempt to wrap up all of these storylines correctly,” Lowney included.
The Ted Lasso crew also indicated that season 3 was potentially the end of the road. In June of 2021, Sudeikis virtually verified that there would be no Ted Lasso season 4. He communicated to Entertainment Weekly, “The narrative that’s being told – this three-season story arc – is something that I envision, understand, and recognize. I’m grateful that they’re willing to fund those three seasons. I’m unsure what happens after that point. I have no idea.”
In that same talk, Hunt stated that Ted Lasso was “always planned to be three seasons.” He went on to say, “It would be truly wonderful if, given how much people enjoy this program, we stand our ground and solely create three seasons. However, despite how committed Jason may have been to that concept, none of us were prepared for the degree of love people have for this show. I will say that I’ll happily consent to whatever he [Jason] decides.”
Brett Goldstein, who portrays fan-favorite Roy Kent, revealed in a 2022 discussion with Sunday Times that the third season of Ted Lasso was being written with the series’ end in mind. “Three seasons were planned,” he said.
But, that all took a turn in 2024. That August, Deadline announced that Hannah Waddingham, Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift would return for a fourth season. The outlet reported that Apple TV+ had to finalize agreements with other cast members whose SAG-AFTRA contracts were expiring.
When Will ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Be Released? Launch Date
Apple shared that season 4 of Ted Lasso will debut during the summer of 2026.
What Transpired During The ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3 Finale?
The season 3 finale of Ted Lasso aired on May 31, 2023, and it provided such a touching resolution. The highly-anticipated fight between AFC Richmond and West Ham eventually happened — and Richmond emerged victorious! They ultimately end up in second place in the league behind Manchester City. Jamie and Roy nearly start fighting with each other over Keeley, but she refuses them both and puts herself first. Roy is appointed as the new manager of AFC Richmond and seeks therapy with Dr. Sharon.
Ted makes up his mind to go back to America to be with his ex-wife Michelle and their son Henry. Beard reconsiders his choice to leave with Ted and stays to wed Jane. Beard, Roy, and Nate act as leaders in Ted’s absence. Rebecca sells off 49% of the club to the fans. Once she says goodbye to Ted at the airport, she reunites with the Dutch man she encountered in Amsterdam, who works as a pilot. Keeley comes up with the concept for a women’s team for Richmond.
Before Ted’s departure, Trent switches his book’s name from The Lasso Way to The Richmond Way. Ted makes his return to America and starts to coach Henry’s soccer team. He provides his son with helpful advice, which fulfills his goal to make his family a priority.

Are There Any ‘Ted Lasso’ Companion Shows?
The good news for Ted Lasso enthusiasts is that Jason seems highly interested in potential companion shows that feature some of the characters. This suggests that we could see the stories of Hannah’s Rebecca, Juno Temple‘s Keeley, and others continue.
“Yes, I believe we’ve laid the foundation for various people…to be able to witness the further stories of these people,” Jason communicated to Deadline regarding the possibility of Ted Lasso companion shows. “I can’t help but receive this question as praise for all of the efforts that everyone working on the program has put in.”
Brendan hinted at the possibility of companion shows by mentioning to Yahoo Canada that “anything is possible” regarding the show’s future. “I can also note that we won’t be making any decisions anytime soon,” Brendan shared in March of 2023. “We’ll allow things to settle and we’ll all go our separate ways for a bit. We’ll be sure to reconnect with the local establishments in our neighbourhoods and communities that have been neglected over these past few years. Following that, we’ll gather again and determine what’ll occur next, if anything.”

Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate Shelley, verified that he’s onboard for a companion show. “I think the writers were always transparent at the start, stating that they had outlined three-season narratives,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “But that doesn’t mean that there has to be an ending. It can definitely go on. So, we’ll see. I hope that there’s more, but I’m unsure.”
Multiple Ted Lasso cast members pitched ideas for companion shows to The Daily Beast. Jeremy Swift, who portrays Leslie Higgins, would enjoy a murder mystery companion show. “A detective agency run by Higgins and Beard. However, Beard is secretly crooked and is the mastermind behind all of the crimes. Higgins has no idea,” Leslie stated. James Lance pitched a companion show that featured his character Trent Crimm, while Cristo Fernandez stated that he thought a companion show for Dani Rojas “would be great,” while expressing interest in a new show about Roy’s niece, Phoebe.
